The Kenosha Area Soccer League (KASL) and BGC Sports Form Partnership

Kenosha, WI – July 12, 2018 – The Boys & Girls Club of Kenosha is excited to announce a formal partnership between BGC Sports and the Kenosha Area Soccer League, two organizations with similar missions in youth sports, particularly in soccer. Understanding the ever changing climate in Kenosha youth sports, soccer continues to grow in popularity and is of primary focus for both organizations. This partnership will allow the BGCK and KASL to extend opportunities for current and future members of both organizations.

“I have felt for years the community needed to reach further to get everyone involved who would like to be at the appropriate level,” said Steve Domin, men’s soccer coach at Carthage College (a pillar BGCK supporter). Over the past 25 years, Domin has served as the Carthage men’s and women’s soccer coach and a director of the competitive and recreational soccer organizations at different periods. “I am proud Carthage, our agents, my immediate family and I could help facilitate the long overdue arrangement in continuing cooperative and segmented initiatives.”

KASL will be the Boys & Girls Club affiliate for fall and spring soccer, and the BGCK will be the funneled charter for winter and summer operations. To launch the partnership, KASL members who sign up for the BGC Sports pre-season recreational camp at CYC Park will receive a $20 discount on their entry fee. The camp is open for Boys & Girls age 5-14 and will take place from 9am-11am on August 13th-17th. Additionally, KASL members who sign up to play in the BGC winter league will receive a $5 per session credit towards their spring and fall KASL dues. In an effort to ensure a successful transition, longtime KASL administrative employee, Linda Englund, will join the BGCK staff to help facilitate program operations.

“We would eventually like to see this as a one-stop-membership in youth soccer,” said Roger Koessl, KASL President. “Essentially creating an unparalleled brand in Kenosha youth sports. We have some excellent, experienced coaches, volunteers and professionals in KASL, and I know the Boys & Girls Club is working diligently on solidifying their core too.”

The partnership will focus on creating more opportunities and better identification and league shape for recreational members. Additionally, the partnership will aim to identify clear opportunities for competitive players in training and playing, and create further synergy with other sports, providing fewer scheduling conflicts. For example, BGCK and KASL will work together to align schedules for sports like basketball and soccer, so that youth can play both sports and will no longer need to pick one over the other.

BGCK CEO, Jake McGhee, looks forward to the partnership and opportunity ahead. “We take pride in being the sports home for any kid who wants to participate and have fun,” said McGhee. “This partnership helps us reignite the recreational side of our soccer programming while taking on best practices from a highly reputable program like KASL.”
