Kenosha, WI – August 14, 2018 – The Boys & Girls Club of Kenosha is one of the top 200 finalists in the State Farm Neighborhood Assist grant program. The Club needs your vote to help win one of 40 $25,000 grants!
This $25,000 grant would allow the Club to purchase and install playground equipment, clean up the grassy lot to the north of the Club to make is usable for kids, install a fence to ensure member safety and plant a garden for member and community enjoyment.
The voting phase is open beginning tomorrow, August 15th until August 24th. You can vote up to 10 times per day every day for our cause. Winners will be announced on September 25th.
Voting will be open beginning August 15th online here: https://www.neighborhoodassist.com/entry/2012277
Currently, the plot of land is deemed unsafe for play due to hazardous materials underground from an old junkyard that used to occupy the space. In nice weather, members play in the small space just west of the building which is right alongside the street. Staff members are constantly monitoring the kids instead of having the opportunity to interact with them. With a larger fenced in area, an addition of playground equipment and garden, staff members can include outdoor activities into their lesson plans more often. Creating opportunities for youth to be active, will create active and healthy adults.
The Club encourage all to vote as much as possible for this great opportunity. The addition of a playground is truly an improvement that will better the lives of Club members and the community as a whole.
