Kenosha, WI – November 7, 2018 – In September, Club supporters, friends and family of the late Dave Barnes gathered and golfed at Bristol Oaks Golf Club in his memory. Over $21,000 was raised for Dave’s favorite charity, the Boys & Girls Club of Kenosha. Barnes was a former BGCK Board President, long-time Club supporter and mentor to the members.
For the past six years Dave’s close friends, Sam Perry and Larry Pacetti, have spearheaded the event. Friends, family and many local businesses are invited to participate by golfing, donating raffle prizes or sponsoring a hole. This year the event drew 102 golfers, 44 hole sponsors, and several dozen raffle prizes. Since the inception of this event in 2013, it has raised over $100,000 for the Club.
“Larry and I are grateful to the nearly 200 participants that have contributed each of the past six years,” said Sam Perry. “Topping $100,000 in total donations is fantastic! Our friend Dave and his wife Michelle are very happy. This event and all who have given are doing exactly what Dave loved to do, and what Michelle continues to do, helping those in need. All the better that it is for our community’s youth. We are excited for next year’s event already.”
“The outing is a special event for both the Club and the Barnes family,” said BGCK CEO, Jake McGhee. “The fact that friends and family come in to town from all over the Midwest, and have helped raised over $100,000 for the Club, speaks to the impact of Dave’s legacy. Michelle, her extended family and friends, and her professional family through Cost Cutters, are all so good to the Club. I never met Dave, but I know he’d be proud.”
