BGCK Adds Four New Full-Time Staff Members

Kenosha, WI – January 8, 2018 – Four new full-time staff members were hired at the Boys & Girls Club of Kenosha over the last few months. In 2017, daily after-school attendance rose from 69 to 185 members. In order to keep up with the growing number of members, additional staff was needed.

Kevin Schroeder is no stranger to the Boys & Girls Club of Kenosha. After earning his Associates Degree in Culinary Arts from Gateway Technical College and with many years of restaurant experience, Schroeder came to the Club in 2012 to teach a cooking class called Kids in the Kitchen. In 2015, in addition to teaching guitar at the Club, Schroeder took on the challenge of managing and cooking for the Child and Adult Care Food Program. In September of 2017, Schroeder was promoted to Director of Food & Beverage for the Club where he not only oversees the CACFP, but also manages concessions at the Club, CYC Park and Little League Park.

After many years in youth enrichment programming, Chanice Lohman is now the Youth Services Coordinator for the Club where she’ll focus on youth center staff development and program implementation. Lohman, an Evanston IL native, has worked with youth for the past six years having spent time at the Girls Scouts of Greater Chicago and Northwest Indiana and the Zion Park District. Lohman holds a M.Ed. in School Counseling from Loyola University, Chicago.

Sammie Gaillard Jr. will now serve as the Assistant Director of Maintenance for the BGCK. Gaillard retired from the U.S. military in 2010 as an Equipment Operator First Class, overseeing 200 personnel in various trades. Since then, Gaillard has worked for We Energies, Wisconsin State AFL-CIO Labor, Education and Training Center and Volunteers of America, Minnesota and Wisconsin.

With 10+ years of experience in masonry, bricklaying, construction and custodial work, Ron Turkvan is now the Facilities and Maintenance Manager for the BGCK. Turkvan, a former Club kid, graduated from Milwaukee Area Technical College in 2009.
