Kenosha, WI – August 21, 2017 – On August 9th, BGCK youth golfers and Kenosha Police officers golfed nine holes together at Washington Park Municipal Golf Course. This annual event put on by BGC Sports, brings kids and officers together in a lighthearted competition.
The BGC Sports Dr. Aiello and Dr. Perri Youth Golf Program included an 8 week class led by former professional golfer and Kenosha’s own, Carly Werwie. Kids ages 7 – 16 learned stance, grip, swing, putting, rules, etiquette and much more.
The program had 57 participants in 2017, the highest registration in BGC Youth Golf history.
The Golf with a Cop outing allowed kids to interact with Kenosha police officers in a positive, friendly manner. Emeritus BGCK Board Member Joe Madrigano Jr. said, “Events like this show kids (that) police officers are real people just like them. The interaction was wonderful to see.”
Years ago, the Aiello & Perri Golf Foundation was established. The foundation covers unfunded program costs and awards a $1,000 college scholarship to both a male and female golfer each year.
