Kenosha, WI – April 6, 2018 – The Boys & Girls Club of Kenosha is proud to announce that Alejandra Vasquez will be attending Carthage College in the fall on a full-tuition scholarship. Each year since 2014, Carthage College has awarded a full-tuition scholarship to a deserving Boys & Girls Club of Kenosha member.
The program encourages high school Club members to strive for excellence while developing academic, leadership, and social skills needed to be successful citizens beyond high school. Graduates must meet proficiencies in school, at the Club, show good character and leadership.
Vasquez will be a first generation college student and plans to major in biology. “As we all know, success takes significant effort and determination,” said Vasquez. “I am determined to make the most of the opportunity I have been awarded by the Boys & Girls Club of Kenosha and Carthage College.”
“The BGCK is all about providing life changing opportunities for youth in our community, and the full-tuition scholarship at Carthage College is just that,” said BGCK CEO, Jake McGhee. “We’re incredibly fortunate to have the college support our top youth and are excited to see where their futures take them.”
Deja Rucker, the 2017 scholarship recipient, is wrapping up her freshman year at Carthage College. “I have found that Carthage is so resourceful and I am grateful to be a part of their student body,” said Rucker. “I love it here.”
